Pakistan’s 1st Formula Electrical Racing Car Exposed

It is for the very first time that an electrified formula car, made by students of Pakistan Navy Engineering College and National Student of Science and Technology has been selected for the SAE Lincoln two thousand sixteen contest in United State of America, that will be held from June fifteen – Eighteen. The head of the project, Abdul Aleem said it took two years for students of both the colleges to design the car and the car, developed by a team of PNEC-NUST students, was unveiled by Bank Alfalah.

And it is also for the very first time that the students of Pakistan will participate in a science competition held in the U.S. Earlier, the students of the same universities participated in competitions held in Manila, Philippine and Cyprus, and also won the award for the Best Electrical Propulsion Power award in Cyprus Solar Car challenge back in 2014. Bank Alfalah, through its Rising Talent programme has provided a prestigious platform to nurture talent and provide exposure to aspiring youthful and dynamic professionals.

Sharing his delight on this major development, Atif Bajwa, President and CEO at Bank Alfalah, said, «Bank Alfalah Rising Talent programme is a platform where the youth get opportunities to convert ambitions into success, and contributes to the country`s socio-economic development. Today we reiterate that commitment by supporting some of the brightest minds in Pakistan`s technological landscape. Developing the country`s very first Formula Electrified Car and indicating Pakistan as the finalists for the acclaimed FormulaSAE® Lincolncompetition from Asia are landmark achievements not only for NUST but for the country. »

Engr. Salman Absar, Director Innovation & Commercialization at NUST said, «Being a very first in a country with virtually no Formula Racing infrastructure, especially for electrical vehicles, facilities or practice, the journey of making Pakistan`s very first Formula Electrical Racing Vehicle was far from effortless. However, Bank Alfalah recognized the potential residing with these students, and came forward when no one else was willing. Even with the team`s relentless courage and acumen, this idea would not have materialized without the support of Bank Alfalah`s Rising Talent Programme,»

Abdul Aleem, team leader, FERN said, «Making Pakistan`s Very first Formula Electrical Car was utter of challenges but our determination led us to make it all possible and today we stand here proud to be Pakistanis. Talking about the electrical racing car, the car runs on lithium ion polymer batteries that is capable to accelerate from zero – 75kmph in just Four.8 seconds, thanks to the structure of the car that weighs 275kg and can reach a top speed of 100kmph. Some of the significant features about this car is that it incorporates single piston custom-built made aluminium calliper braking system, a rack and pinion type steering system and an unequal A-arm suspension system with shove rods along with SP-4 way dampers.
