The twenty year old woman died after falling off a cliff one hundred feet down.

The woman was from San Jose and was visiting Davenport with friends. Very first responders attempted to save her but she was too badly hurt.

Witness Raymond Oyos was there moments after the fall.

“There’s some boy running down the cliff he starts screaming and screaming ‘she fell, she fell,’ Oyos said.

Oyos and his friends went closer where others were already attempting to help.

“They took all of their clothes off and attempted swimming it,” Oyos said. “They climbed the big rock and everything but nothing.”

Raymond says after a while, rescue helicopters arrived.

“About ten minutes after the helicopters came, they sent someone down and they came back with the person in it.”

The Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Office says the cliff was unstable, making it even firmer to reach the woman.

“They said they scaled down there to where she was,” Oyos said. “Rocks falling on them and everything, they were attempting to help her, like, dig and dig so the water wouldn’t cave in on her and down there they’re all scraped up with scrapes and bleeding.”

Sheriff’s officials say the woman was talking with rescuers but eventually died in the helicopter.

“We were chilling just having joy and then we see that and our moods just switch,” Oyos said.

We don’t know the woman’s name yet as officials are still notifying her family.
