Auto Expo

The Auto Expo is a biennial automotive display held in Fresh Delhi, India. It is Asia’s largest [1] and the world’s second-largest [Two] motor display.

Till 2012, the expo was organized at Pragati Maidan, but since two thousand fourteen it is organized at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. It is organized jointly by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The latest edition, Auto Expo two thousand sixteen was held inbetween five – nine February 2016.

Origin Edit

The Auto Expo was conceived in the year one thousand nine hundred eighty five and had its debut showcasing in 1986. [1] The Auto Expo one thousand nine hundred eighty six was a window for technology transfers demonstrating how the Indian Automotive Industry was absorbing fresh technologies and promoting indigenous research and development for adapting these technologies for the rugged Indian conditions. The nine day showcase was marked by then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. [1]

The 11th Edition of Auto Expo was held at Pragati Maidan, Fresh Delhi from five January two thousand twelve to eleven January 2012. The very first two days of the event was reserved for Media and VIPs. The formal inauguration happened on six January and the event was open to general public from seven January to eleven January 2012. The largest automotive showcase in India witnessed around one thousand five hundred participants from twenty three countries. [26]

The 11th Edition of Auto Expo eyed fifty car launches, ten of them were global launches and twenty two-wheeler launches. For the very first time Ferrari and Peugeot showcased their line-up for India. [27]

The Silver Jubilee edition of Auto Expo happened from Jan five to 11, two thousand ten witnessed almost seventy two launches. This included more than ten global launches comprising passenger vehicles and two-wheelers.

The showcase was inaugurated by Mr Kamal Nath, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India and Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, Minister of Mighty Industries and Public Enterprises. The demonstrate was also visited by media from over nineteen countries.

9th Edition of Auto Expo eyed the launch of the much awaited and anxiously anticipated Tata Nano. The expo happened from ten to seventeen January 2008, it attracted 1.8 million visitors and generated business worth Rs. 20,000 Crores through two thousand exhibitors and the display area was 1.Two Lakh square. The 6th edition of the Auto Expo was held from fifteen to twenty two January 2002. The showcase witnessed international participation from twenty countries and exhibitors from China, the Czech Republic, France, Greece, Germany, Israel, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UAE and the USA. The 5th Edition of Auto expo was held in Pragiti Maidan from twelve to eighteen January 2000. The event was inaugurated by Late.Mr.Murasoli Maran, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry. The expo covered 65,000 sq.m in display area through eighteen halls and twenty participating countries. The expo had close to a million visitors and more than twenty five fresh models were launched. The 11th Edition of Auto Expo was held at Pragati Maidan, Fresh Delhi from five January two thousand twelve to eleven January 2012. The very first two days of the event was reserved for Media and VIPs. The formal inauguration happened on six January and the event was open to general public from seven January to eleven January 2012. The Auto Expo is a biennial automotive demonstrate held in Fresh Delhi, India. It is Asia’s largest [1] and the world’s second-largest [Two] motor display.

The Auto Expo was conceived in the year one thousand nine hundred eighty five and had its debut showcasing in 1986. [1] The Auto Expo one thousand nine hundred eighty six was a window for technology transfers showcasing how the Indian Automotive Industry was absorbing fresh technologies and promoting indigenous research and development for adapting these technologies for the rugged Indian conditions. The nine day demonstrate was marked by then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. [1]

The Expo covers an area of over 70,000 sq meters in Fresh Delhi`s Pragati Maidan. The Expo was jointly organized by the Automotive Components Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). 7th edition of Auto Expo spanned for five days from 7th to 11th Jan 2004. The key OEM exhibitors were Maruti, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Nissan, Skoda, Audi, Volkswagen and Daimler Chrysler. The display area was Ten,300 sq. mts. [41]

The 6th edition of the Auto Expo was held from fifteen to twenty two January 2002. The display witnessed international participation from twenty countries and exhibitors from China, the Czech Republic, France, Greece, Germany, Israel, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UAE and the USA. The 5th Edition of Auto expo was held in Pragiti Maidan from twelve to eighteen January 2000. The event was inaugurated by Late.Mr.Murasoli Maran, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry. The expo covered 65,000 sq.m in display area through eighteen halls and twenty participating countries. The expo had close to a million visitors and more than twenty five fresh models were launched. The 4th Edition of Auto expo was held in Pragiti Maidan from fifteen to twenty one January 1998.
