Best fresh electrified cars coming in two thousand seventeen (and 2018)
Electrified cars are far from becoming mainstream, but they`re undoubtedly not going away. Battery technology is – leisurely – improving and electrified cars have all the best tech in them, whether it`s autonomous driving or other driver convenience features such as having Alexa or Cortana built in as a voice-activated assistant. Here are the best fresh electrified cars coming in two thousand seventeen and 2018
- Range: four hundred thirty four miles
- Price: $100,000-120,000 (rumoured)
- Expected launch date: Early 2018
Will the Faraday FF91 ever see the light of day? It`s hard to say, but if the company can put the car into production, owners will have a record-breaking vehicle. It has the highest range of any electrical car at 700km (434 miles) and the fastest acceleration, capable of 0-60mph in Two.39 seconds.
It will have amazing tech inwards, opening its doors when it recognises your face. You can`t buy it in the UK, tho’. Deposits of $5000 are being taken if you live in the US, Canada or China.
Jaguar I-PACE
- Range: three hundred ten miles
- Price: £50,000+ (rumoured)
- Expected launch date: 2nd half of 2018
As well as the expected Jaguar high spectacle (0-60mph in under four seconds) the I-PACE will – according to the British car maker – have next-gen technology and will charge eighty percent in ninety minutes.
The I-PACE will seat five adults and have a decent 310-mile range.
Tesla Model three
The Model three is Tesla`s most affordable electrical car yet, but it`s still expensive compared to it`s petrol- or diesel-powered family saloons.
It`s a luxury car, however, set to rival with the BMW three Series and Mercedes C-class among others. Those aren`t electrical, and the Model three will have Tesla`s autopilot hardware, too.
It’ll do 0-60 in Five.6 seconds, and a long-range version will let you drive three hundred ten miles and go a bit quicker in a haul race at Five.1 seconds. It’ll cost US$44,000.
The very first Model three examples have been given to Tesla employees following a launch event, and CEO Elon Musk didn’t give a date on which pre-orders would be ready.
You can put down a £1,000 refundable deposit right now, but the UK is likely to get the Model three after all the left-hand drive countries so you very likely won`t see them on these shores until late 2018.
BMW i3S
- Range: one hundred ninety five miles
- Price: TBC
- Expected launch date: Early 2018
Unlike the Ford Concentrate, the BMW i3 is unmistakable as an electrified car as its styling is so different from the company`s fossil fuel-powered cars.
BMW has already enhanced the i3`s range from the original eighty one miles to 114, but the two thousand seventeen model, dubbed the i3S, is set to reach almost two hundred miles.
Rumours suggest it won`t look much different, but will have an upgraded infotainment system as well as an uprated motor which will permit it to reach 60mph from a standing commence in 7.2seconds.
Mercedes EQ Concept
- Range: three hundred ten miles
- Price: From around £37,000
- Expected launch date: 2018
Standing – somehow – for Electrical Intelligence, the EQ Concept is Mercedes` concept all-electric car with a range of 500km (310 miles). Like several other cars here, it`s an SUV which is likely to cost around the same as Mercedes GLC, which starts at around £37,000.
Audi E-tron Quattro Concept
Audi`s E-tron range presently comprises hybrid versions of its Q7 and A3 Sportback. But an all-electric Quattro is in the works. The Quattro Concept is has three motors, one driving the front axle and two at the rear. They provide 430bhp with brief boosts to 500bhp.
However, unlike most SUVs, it has only four seats. There`s no word on price at the moment.
Hyundai Ioniq
- Range: one hundred seventy four miles
- Price: From £28,995
- Expected launch date: On sale now
There are rumours of a Hyundai electrical SUV, but it`s enormously unlikely that will go on sale within the next year or so. However, Hyundai`s Ioniq went on sale in late two thousand sixteen and is one of the cheaper fully Electrical cars.
Prior to this, there was a hybrid version, but this one ditches the combustion engine downright. It`s no sports car: the 0-60 slog takes over ten seconds, and albeit the 174-mile range is reasonable, it`s not going to be enough for some people. And don`t leave behind, this is the best-case range: it will be diminished a lot in very cold weather.
Ford Concentrate Electrical (2017)
- Range: one hundred miles
- Price: From £31,000
- Expected launch date: On sale now
The two thousand seventeen update to the Concentrate Electrified is fairly minimal. The range has been improved to one hundred miles (up from 70) so it`s only suitable for a commute. Ford says it didn`t increase battery capacity much as it desired to keep down costs and weight.
